Our bodies were designed to move!

Functional Rehabilitation focuses on restoring and enhancing your body’s natural movement patterns when there is dysfunction.

Dr. Edwards completes a comprehensive movement assessment to identify any movement impairments, imbalances, or restrictions that are affecting your ability to move optimally. From there a personalized plan is created with the goal being to restore proper movement mechanics, improve strength and flexibility, eliminate pain, and prevent future injuries.

In our office we primarily utilize two rehabilitation models; Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) and Global Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention (GRIP).

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)

DNS is based upon principles of the development of neurophysiology of human movement, posture, and gait - all of which are largely established during the first year of life. This model focuses on retraining the nervous system to move efficiently by utilizing early developmental movement patterns as a foundation for proper stabilization throughout the body.

Global Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention (GRIP)

GRIP Approach is based upon principles of developmental kinesiology, neurodevelopmental movements, current fascia research and modern pain science. With an emphasis on functional range of motion, this approach provides a framework for effective rehabilitation that helps maintain performance and prevent future injuries.
